Anti wrinkle injections

What are anti wrinkle injections?

Botulinum toxin (type A) can be used cosmetically to relax specific muscles of the face, reducing the appearance of unwanted fine lines and wrinkles created from our facial expressions.  This results in a smoother and more youthful appearance.

How do they work?

Prescription only medication Botulinum Toxin (Type A), often referred to by the brand name Botox (®), is a substance that blocks the nerve signals to the treated muscles.  As a result, the activity of the treated muscle is significantly reduced, which in turn reduces the ability of that muscle to move and create lines and wrinkles.  Fine lines can often be very successfully treated with anti-wrinkle injections, whereas deeper lines usually can be only softened and reduced.  A comprehensive  consultation will be carried out prior to any treatment to discuss whether this treatment will give you the results you desire.

Which areas do you treat?

The three most common areas treated are the frown lines (glabellar area - created by the contraction of the procerus and corregator muscles), the forehead (horizontal lines created by the frontalis muscles) and the eyes (Crow's Feet - created by the obicularis oculi muscle).  An individualised and tailored treatment plan is discussed and agreed at consultation.  As well as the benefits described above, you may find that you sweat less in the treated areas and have fewer migraines.  Other more advanced treatments can also be provided to the lower face to improve jaw definition, in the platysmal muscles to elongate the neck and to the armpits to reduce excessive sweating.

What happens during the procedure?

Prior to any treatment a full consultation will be completed.  During this consultation, you will be asked questions about your health, any medications you may be taking and the risks and side effects of treatments will be outlined.  If you are happy to proceed to treatment, a consent form will be signed.  A series of carefully placed, minimally invasive injections are administered to the areas requiring treatment with the whole procedure taking from 15 - 30 minutes.  After care advice will be given and an appointment made for a review appointment 14 days post treatment.

How long does it last?

At Vamped, we only use products which are FDA approved, safe and established such as Galdermas Azzalure ® and Allegan Botox ®.

Early effects can usually be seen after 5-7 days with the full effect evident after 2 to 3 weeks.  These effects normally last for 8 to 12 weeks, but everyone is different and you may find effects wear off earlier or even last longer.  From experience, effects last longer after repeated treatments in intervals.  You will be offered a review appointment 14 days post treatment and if the initial agreed aim of treatment has not been achieved, further treatment will be administered at this point free of charge.
